Peak Park Conservation Area

They don't come much more basic than this, but if an unfettered "wild" camping experience is your goal, this might be closest you'll get.

The Peak Park Conservation Area Campsite is little more than a couple of fields just south of the famous Snake Pass. There's no reception, you won't see the owner and there are no facilities of any kind other than a fairly neglected Port-a-loo.

But it's very cheap and it'll be left for you to decide where to pitch and how to conduct your camping stay. Fires are allowed with logs and fire pits being available to buy/hire, which thanks to enormous moorland fires over the past few years, is becoming a very rare thing in the Peak District.

Bikers Note: Entrance to the campground is through the middle of a working stable, so you'll need to be mindful of the horses if your bike is excessively loud.
