The London Motorcycle Film Festival

London's first evening dedicated to moto inspired cinema.

It was some years ago that I found myself talking to Ian Carless, the man behind the Dubai Motorcycle Film Festival. He found he'd be spending more time back in the UK and pondered if it might be a good idea to bring a motorcycle themed film festival over here to the UK. Personally, I thought it was a great idea. Social media is awash with paper thin motorcycle themed content and there's room, I thought, for something a little better. There are (thankfully) legions of people out there making high quality films centered around motorcycles, so we ought to do our bit to celebrate it. We agreed to talk more about it in the coming months and to make some loose plans for the next year.

Life happened and time passed until we finally revisited the idea early in 2025. The initial thought was to have the event held in Manchester as this was more local to both Ian and I. But London has always been the hub of UK motorcycle culture and it seemed a misstep to avoid the capital. So in stepped the dream team of Stefania Schito and Alex Richards to help us get the event organised in lands uncommon to both Ian and myself. Stefania and Alex have been responsible for organising one of the UK's largest DGR events each year, so with them on board I knew we were in good hands for getting the inaugural London Motorcycle Film Festival underway.

Using a little local knowledge and connections, Alex and Stefania organised a perfect venue for the first event. An intimate location, The Old Timber Store under the railway arches at Maltby Street Market will provide a perfect backdrop to an evening of great motorcycle cinema.

Over the two evenings of the 12th and 13th September 2025, we'll be showcasing an international selection of motorcycle-themed short films, from real-life adventures and documentaries to dramatic narratives, animations, and branded content. Featured films include:

  • Reappear – Tommy Clarke (UK). Frank restores his late father’s vintage motorcycle, aiming to recreate his mother’s most treasured photograph, only to discover a transformative journey.
  • Song of Sosa – Cam Elkins (Australia). Cristian Sosa finds the rhythm of a custom Royal Enfield 650 Twin GT—and his own story—through the beat of his hammer.
  • Fast Eddie – Brenna Eckerson (USA). The extraordinary racing life of WWII veteran Ed Fisher, a pioneer with Indian and Triumph, who rode well into his nineties.
  • Rebel Riders – Marc Ressang (Indonesia). An inside look at Indonesia’s extreme Vespa culture and the inventive spirit driving it.

Being the first year of the event, we're realistic about the numbers of people we're expecting to attend. But we all know that oak trees grow from small acorns, so we're hopeful that from this first small event the festival will continue to grow year on year to become one of the UK's best known celebrations of motorcycle culture and cinema.
